Innovation that serves

Harnessing nature’s smallest factories to build the world’svital molecules.

Ananthara Biotech designs microbial platforms that produce high-value biomolecules through fermentation, with less waste and more consistency than extraction or chemical synthesis.

How it works: a microbial cell is genetically engineered, grown by fermentation, and produces a valuable molecule1Microbial cell2Genetic engineering3Fermentation4Valuable molecule
About us

We program cells the way engineers program machines.

Many valuable molecules, from pharmaceutical ingredients to natural flavours, are hard to source. They are extracted in tiny amounts from plants or made through energy-intensive chemistry. We take a different route: we rewrite the genetic instructions of microorganisms so they produce these molecules directly, then grow them in fermenters.

Strain engineering

We design and build microbial hosts with optimised metabolic pathways for a target molecule.

Bioprocess development

We tune fermentation conditions so strains perform reliably as they move from flask to bioreactor.

Downstream recovery

We develop purification steps that deliver the molecule at the quality the end use requires.

Why microbes

A better way to make complex molecules.

Microbial fermentation
Scale & purity

Scalability and consistently high purity

Processes move from lab flask to large fermenters, and the final product keeps the same high purity at every scale.

Climate

Climate-resilient technology

Production runs indoors in controlled fermenters, unaffected by droughts, floods or failed harvests.

Sustainability

Sustainable by design

Renewable feedstocks and mild process conditions use less land, water and harsh chemicals than conventional routes.

Economics

On-demand and economic production

Molecules are made when they are needed, in the quantity needed, at a cost that stays competitive as volumes grow.
